Artist's Statement
Naming a piece can be the most challenging moment. As I am creating these Soulstice Stones, the meaning and/or the materials are never pre-determined.
I will combine dozens of potential media during the process, each with its own energy, each offering to 'add' to the message, if you will.
In the end, the spirit of the completed piece is a culmination of the dance with these energies and my desire. My hands follow my heart, my heart follows the lead...the stone, bone, the coral or amber.
In the end there are as many worthy concepts applied as there are materials. Viewers, including myself, will be attracted to a different medium on different days, depending on their needs.
I am only one dance partner with the infinite spirit of the stone.
There is no such thing as romancing the stone...the stone does the romancing every time.
